Willis is an official games spokesman for the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China.
Willis was brought up in a military family, and in 2002, he bought 12,000 Girl Scout cookies from his daughter Tallulah, and distributed them to sailors and troops then stationed in the Middle East.
Also in 2002, George W. Bush appointed Willis a national spokesman for Children in Foster Care. Willis said at his appointment: “as a public figure, I realized that I could lend my time and energy to help raise public awareness of children in foster care.”
