In 2012, Dikembe was recognized as a Special Olympics Global Ambassador. In 2011. Dikembe participated in the Special OIympics World Summer Games in Athens. Dikembe not only promotes basketball with NBA Cares clinics in Africa, but also football at the Special Olympics Africa Unity Football Cup in 2012. Dikembe participated in 2013 Unified Sports Experience in Floor Hockey at the Korea 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang, Korea.
